council which presents Imagination Celebration, also produces arts calendars year-round, as part of the OC ArtSource website.
The OC ArtSource e-mail calendars are FREE,
monthly lists of performances, exhibits and festivals in Orange County.

in Action Toolkit
Reminder! March is Arts Education Month.
To learn about Arts Learning in Action, a campaign to bring elected
officials into our schools to witness the power of learning in the arts
during the month of March, visit:

Why is it important that your child develop their
creativity and experience arts education in their school? Students who
receive a strong arts education curriculum are:
- 4 times more likely to be recognized for
academic achievement
- 3 times more likely to be elected to class
office
- 4 times more likely to participate in a math
and science fair
- 3 times more likely to win an award for school
attendance
- 4 times more likely to win an award for
writing an essay or poem
In addition, young artists compared with
their peers are likely to:
- Read for pleasure nearly twice as often
- Participate in youth groups four times as
frequently
- Perform community service nearly twice as
often
